Project Management is a critical element for success in the Edvance Research approach. We incorporate a clear project management process into each research project we undertake to ensure that studies are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and with a high degree of quality.
Edvance Research has assembled a Project Management Office (PMO) made up of a highly-experienced team of Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Project Analysts with extensive backgrounds in successfully managing high-level, complex projects. Our PMO embraces all facets of project management including project selection techniques, team formation, project plan creation, project status reporting, budgeting, risk analysis and mitigation, dealing with obstacles, making goal trade-offs, managing resources across multiple projects, communications and negotiations.
In order to ensure a level of quality that meets or exceeds the requirements and expectations of all stakeholders, Edvance Research’s PMO has developed a number of work flow processes, templates, databases, and documents that ensure adequate internal and external review of all deliverables and compliance with research requirements and standards. We have built into our Project Management process a model of efficiency and have organized our business around a cross-functional group structure, in which individuals’ specific responsibilities, activities, and timelines for completion are defined.
Study Schedules: Detailed Plans for Delivering the Study More
Managing to a schedule ensures that studies operate within the defined scope of work, budget and required deadlines. Edvance Research creates research study schedules to reflect major milestone deliverables, tasks and subtasks that must be completed for every study. Assigned owners responsible for the completion of each task are identified within the schedule, as well due dates for required completion of tasks. Study schedules are also created so that task dependencies are determined, thus allowing for a critical path to be calculated. Study schedules are dynamic in that they are updated on a daily basis to show all updates and changes that occur as they occur.
Study Resource Planning and Budgeting: Controlling People and Costs More
An accurate research staffing plan and study budget is essential to complete a study in a quality manner and within the required timeline while controlling costs. Through our experience and history in conducting rigorous research, we are able to formulate accurate, realistic resource staffing and budgeting plans for any given type of study. The accuracy of our budgeting is enhanced as we break down every study into functional activities and recognize the resource and time commitments necessary to complete each of these activities.
Study Communication: Keeping Everyone Informed More
The success of any research study is greatly dependent on the degree of communication that occurs between study team members. Edvance Research’s Project Managers use an array of documentation, meetings, web-based work portals, and conference calls to ensure that the necessary communication occurs between study team members and management.
Risk Management: Avoiding and Overcoming Challenges More
Early identification of potential risks and challenges that could occur in a study is key to mitigating those risks, or eliminating them altogether before they occur. Edvance Research has implemented thorough and effective risk mitigation strategies, thereby minimizing risk and ensuring high quality study results. For every study, we examine in detail the activities that may be exposed to greater risk and establish mitigation plans to avoid and/or minimize them.
Reporting: Monitoring the Study from Multiple Perspectives More
Edvance Research believes that it is essential that all members of the study team, as well as all constituents of the study (e.g., upper management, sponsors, funding entities), be kept abreast of all aspects of the study on a consistent basis. Edvance Research establishes specific metrics to measure critical factors and has implemented a reporting vehicle to monitor the status of every study project on a dynamic basis. We are able to provide an array of standard reports as well as custom reports based on study team and management needs.
Quality Assurance: Ensuring Customer Satisfaction More
With Edvance Research’s strong commitment to deliver high quality research studies within required timelines, budgets, and scope, we believe it is critical that quality control is built into every aspect of a study. We establish review points in all phases of a study so that quality is monitored and controlled throughout a study. We often structure the execution of a research study using a Stage Gating approach, wherein we do not proceed to subsequent phases of a project unless the previous phase(s) justifies doing so. This approach makes certain the degree of quality required for a study phase is sufficient prior to proceeding with subsequent phases.
