Texas Afterschool Centers on Education™ (ACE™), administered by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) and funded by the 21st Century Community Learning Centers Program administered by the US Department of Education, is an extended learning program that complements the school day instruction and prepares students for college and the workplace.

ACE is available for students whose school has been classified as Title I or having high need, high poverty level, and/or low academic performance, providing them the opportunity to participate in academic learning through innovative, hands-on activities that reinforce and complement their regular academic programs. Activities are based on research and best practices and include a variety of services. ACE offers activities based on a Four-Component Activity Guide which includes:

  • academic assistance,
  • enrichment,
  • family and parental support, and
  • college and career readiness.

Recently, an innovative technology tool,  the Texas ACE Activity Collection, was launched.  It is a unique database designed to help build capacity of out-of-school-time practitioners to deliver high-quality activities to students and families across Texas, and the nation.

With the new database, which is available at www.TexasACE21.org, out-of-school-time practitioners can:

  • Search through a collection of activities and lesson plans using a variety of search criteria (e.g. topics, objectives, etc.).
  • Download activities and lesson plans.
  • Modify them to meet their specific program needs.

All lessons are aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards and include standards for the Partnership for 21st Century Skills, English language proficiency and Texas College and Career Readiness.

As the provider to TEA for Program Enhancement & Quality Assurance for ACE, Edvance Research led the development and execution of the Texas ACE Activity Collection. Visit www.TexasACE21.org to experience the Texas ACE Activity Collection yourself.
