Practice Guides

The What Works Clearinghouse (WWC), under the Institute of Education Sciences of the U.S. Department of Education, is a central and trusted source of scientific evidence for What Works in education.  The WWC offers IES Practice guides which help education stakeholders bridge research to practice.

The IES Practice Guides provide practical recommendations for educators to help them address the everyday challenges they face in their classrooms and schools. Developed by a panel of nationally recognized experts, practice guides consist of actionable recommendations, strategies for overcoming potential roadblocks, and an indication of the strength of evidence supporting each recommendation. IES practice guides are subjected to rigorous external peer review.

IES Practice Guides are available on numerous subject areas and grade levels and are useful for education administrators, teachers, policymakers, parents & families, researchers and other education stakeholders.
