Edvance Research has extensive experience conducting high-quality evaluations using a variety of analytic approaches to assess the effectiveness of education programs and interventions. These evaluations provide research-based answers to real-world questions for policymakers, school administrators, educators, parents, and business and community leaders. We employ several types of program evaluations based on the goals of the evaluation including:
- Impact evaluations which estimate program effects through methods such as randomized controlled trials
- Implementation evaluations that assess a program’s compliance with regulatory requirements, design specifications and industry standards
- Outcome evaluations that review whether or not the program has met stated objectives
- Cost-benefit and cost effectiveness evaluations which determine whether the benefits of the program outweigh the costs and assess the costs of completing or meeting program objectives
Edvance has a deep, working knowledge about the steps involved in research and evaluation activities, including the selection of appropriate methods and designs for each individual project. We use a variety of robust research methods that meet the highest standards of rigor when conducting both short-term analyses and longer-term, detailed evaluations. These research methods include:
- Experiments (randomized controlled trials), the gold standard of evidence-based research, which allows researchers to connect results directly to the program
- Case studies, which result in the collection of in-depth, highly-descriptive qualitative data that often is used to develop hypotheses for future research
- Focus groups, surveys, and one-on-one interviews that provide researchers with qualitative data quickly from a large pool of participants
- Data analyses from existing public and private datasets and from sources of secondary data such as surveys and other facts collected through qualitative methods
- Document analyses that focuses on reviews of the literature and program reports to establish the current state of the research related to the program being evaluated
- Peer and technical working group reviews that provide researchers with expert guidance and advice from individuals with national reputations in the area being evaluated
Our research teams design unique protocols for all evaluations that include a detailed study plan, instructions, and procedures to be followed. Protocols outline the reason for the research, how the research and literature reviews are to be conducted, and how the data is to be collected, entered, analyzed, and reported based on industry-accepted standards. A critical final step in the process is peer review of the protocol before the evaluation is conducted. |
