Sixteen percent of the American population lives in rural counties. To enhance the Federal Government's efforts to address the needs of rural America, the White House has established the White House Rural Council. Its mandate is to improve the coordination of Federal programs and to maximize the impact of Federal investment to promote economic prosperity and quality of life in rural communities. |
